Marque’ Reed-Shackelford, President/Founder

Marque’ Reed-Shackelford is the mother of two Sickle Cell Survivors. Since 2014 she has worked tirelessly in her position as the Executive Board President of S.O.S., but has served in several capacities to support and advocate for the research, cure, and awareness of sickle cell disease for over two decades. She’s committed to making sure that each parent/caregiver of a Sickle Cell Survivor has the support that they need to travel this journey.

Keonsha Bernard, LPC Vice President/Co-Founder

Keonsha and her husband Kurt are proud parents of two children, Kenyan and Kaya, and reside in Houston, Texas. Since learning of her daughter Kaya’s sickle cell anemia diagnosis at birth, Keonsha resolved to get involved in the sickle cell community. She serves on the executive board of S.O.S. as one of its three original founding members and values the privilege of offering parents of kids with sickle cell disease opportunities for support and information.

Maya Cooper Secretary/Co-Founder

Maya Cooper has been an executive board member of S.O.S. since its inception. She shares her life with her husband Ishmael and daughter Kennedy, who is a Sickle Cell Survivor.

Titilope Fasipe, MD, PhD Board Member

Dr. Titi Fasipe has been a proud board member of S.O.S. since 2014. She is a Sickle Cell Survivor and pediatric sickle cell physician who is passionate about sickle cell advocacy and awareness.

Shanna Priddy, RN Board Member

Shanna became a RN in 1992., worked in several hospitals on the Infectious Diseases/AIDS floor and then a VIP floor. She became an elementary school nurse in 2011. While a school nurse, she had numerous Sickle Cell Disease students. She attended her first S.O.S. workshop in 2016. She was in awe of how informative the workshops were and learned so much that she continued going to S.O.S. workshops. She joined the S.O.S. board in 2018 so she could help S.O.S. continue to educate and support parents and caregivers of SCD children.

LaTisha Miles Board Member

Latisha Miles is a hard-working mother who was inspired to join the S.O.S. board because two of her children are Sickle Cell Survivors. She has a unique lens for advocating for sickle cell disease because she also works for a large independent school district and understands how sickle cell disease can impact a child’s education.
